Verizon Fios G3100 Deployment Guide
The Verizon Fios Home Router G3100 is a Wi-Fi 6 gateway. Similar to newer models, it can either be bypassed completely by plugging your custom edge router straight into the ONT via Ethernet, or configured as a bridge if your deployment requires it.

Method 1: Direct ONT Bypass (No Verizon Router)
If you do not utilize Fios TV set-top boxes, eliminating the G3100 entirely from the topology is the most stable path for custom firewalls:
- Log into the G3100 admin panel at
192.168.1.1. Navigate to Advanced Network settings and release the WAN DHCP lease manually. - Immediately disconnect the Ethernet cable coming from the ONT from the WAN port of the G3100.
- Plug that exact Ethernet line directly into the WAN port of your personal router or UniFi console. It will pull the public IP interface address cleanly within a few minutes.
Method 2: LAN-to-WAN Bridge Setup
If you must retain the G3100 for coaxial MoCA video traffic or local TV guide features, follow these steps to prevent routing overlaps:
- Connect a computer directly to a yellow LAN port on the G3100 via Ethernet. Open a web browser and load
http://192.168.1.1. Sign in with the admin password found on the factory label. - Navigate to Advanced > Network Settings > Network Connections.
- Select Network (Home/Office) and click Settings.
- Scroll to the IP Address assignment area and change the dropdown selection to No IP Address. Change the **DHCP Server** toggle to **Disabled**.
- Navigate to the Wireless configuration dashboards and turn off the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and IoT wireless radios completely to kill all native Wi-Fi broadcasts. Click **Apply**.
- Unplug your configuration machine. Run a fresh Ethernet patch cable from any LAN port on the G3100 directly into the WAN port of your dedicated edge router to finalize the handoff.
