AT&T BGW320 Bypass Configuration

Follow these precise steps to bypass the built-in routing engine on the BGW320 and hand off the public WAN IP directly to your own standalone router or firewall appliance.

Step 1: Access the Gateway Interface

Connect a computer directly to one of the yellow LAN ports on the BGW320. Open a web browser and navigate to the default gateway address:

URL: http://192.168.1.254

Note: You will be prompted for the Access Code during the following steps. This alphanumeric password is printed explicitly on the physical sticker attached to the back of the BGW320 unit.

Step 2: Disable Wi-Fi Radios

To prevent wireless channel interference and isolate your local network environment, completely shut down the integrated wireless radios:

Path: Home Network -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced Options

Locate both the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Radio and 5GHz Wi-Fi Radio dropdown selections and change them both to Off. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Configure IP Passthrough

This setting strips away the internal NAT table limitations and assigns your external public IP directly to your personal router.

Path: Firewall -> IP Passthrough

Apply the following target settings precisely:

Click Save. Navigate to Firewall -> Advanced and toggle all options under the firewall security features to Off to ensure the BGW320 does not perform redundant packet inspections.

Step 4: Power Cycle the Environment

For the new configuration to initialize properly, shut down both appliances entirely. Power on the BGW320 first and wait until the front light solidifies into a steady white state. Next, power on your personal router. Your router will pull the public AT&T IP address on its WAN interface link.
